Welcome, friends! I’m so glad you’re here.
Parenting today can feel noisy and overwhelming, with advice coming at you from every direction. It’s easy to forget that some of the most powerful parenting tools don’t come from a book or a social media post. They come from love. From connection. From the simple, repeated rituals of a bedtime story or lullaby that wrap our children in a sense of safety and belonging.
That’s why I created The Snugawinks of Cuddleton Falls and why I’m launching this new chapter of our world: the Snugawinks Blog. A calm corner for parents, grandparents, and caregivers who believe that bedtime, storytime, and time together are sacred moments that build treasured memories.
A Movement Founded in Love, Calm, and Connection
When I first began writing The Snugawinks of Cuddleton Falls, I didn’t realize I was creating something bigger than a bedtime story. I was building a world rooted in calm parenting, every story celebrates what really matters: connection. I believe calm is not weakness, it’s a superpower. And stories aren’t just entertainment. They’re medicine for the heart. That’s the foundation of our Snugawinks Manifesto, and of everything I hope this space will be.
We believe in the quiet moments. In the lullabies whispered, the tickles and tucks, and bedtime stories passed down like treasures of the heart. We believe parenting isn’t about getting it perfect; it’s about showing up with love, presence, and trust in our intuition, even when the world is noisy. We believe stories connect us, heal us, and remind us we are never alone. We are here for the parent in the rocking chair at 2 a.m., the grandparent with a story still to give, and the child whose world is shaped by the rituals of love. Those quiet moments aren’t just part of parenting; they’re the legacy we leave behind.
A Legacy Born in a Rocking Chair
My own love for bedtime stories began with my grandmother. She had this gentle, deliberate way about her. At bedtime, she’d rock me in her chair, holding me warmly. Sometimes she sang Frère Jacques, other times she’d make up songs on the spot, little lullabies only for me. I didn’t understand it then, but she was giving me something far deeper than a song. She was teaching me how love feels. How calm sounds. How belonging begins. Years later, when I became a mother of four, I found myself recreating that same rhythm, bedtime stories, prayers, tickles, and tucks. And now, as a grandmother of two, I see it all coming full circle again.
Watching My Children Become Parents
There’s something indescribable about watching your own children become parents. It’s such a joy mixed with nostalgia, pride, and tenderness. I see them building their own rituals, singing, reading, cuddling – and I’m reminded that the heart of parenting hasn’t changed, even though so much else has.
Today’s parents have so many wonderful tools, new research about what’s safe sleeping, safe driving, even with all these modern miracles, the most important thing remains the same — the love that tucks our babies in at night.
Why I’m Here
I’m here to help guide new parents with a mix of old-school wisdom and modern calm. To remind you that perfection isn’t the goal — presence is. To share stories that soothe, tools that help, and rituals that reconnect us all to what truly matters.
Through this blog and soon, through The Rock-a-Bye Diaries, a bedtime storytelling podcast for little ones, I’ll be sharing gentle stories and nursery treasures that bring comfort and connection back to family life. Whether you’re a new mom or dad finding your rhythm, a grandparent rediscovering the magic, or someone who simply believes in slowing down, I hope you’ll feel at home here.
